Elmer:

"In trying to be objective I must admit that anything is possible and AMD might be stockpiling material for a launch. Nevertheless, a shipping product is always better than rumors and suspicion. If there is a problem it would look exactly like this. If Hammer wasn't going to live up to all the hype would AMD come out now and admit that as well?"

'Atta boy, cover those tracks!!!

Elmer,

If there is a problem it would look exactly like this.

That's what my concern is.

If Hammer wasn't going to live up to all the hype would AMD come out now and admit that as well?

Live up to all the hype? That's a very vague term. There are some performance targets, and they will look excellent / good / ok based on where the competition is at the time.

Elmer, Re: <Nevertheless, a shipping product is always better than rumors and suspicion. If there is a problem it would look exactly like this.>

And if there was no problem it would look exactly like this.

This is not a retail part. There is *NO* reason for a product announcement.

AMD has never announced part shipments to manufacturers that I recall, only public availability, and these parts are never going to ship to retail.
