It's about power NYCBoy... It's about the continuing struggle to see who has the right to rule the remnants of the Ottoman Turkish empire, which ruled the region for 400 years until being defeated by the British and French in WWI... (remember Lawrence of Arabia??)

The British promised the Hashemite leader that, in exchange for revolting against the Turks, he would be given all of the Arabian peninsula, Iraq, and Palestine, in order to create a vast Arab kingdom... But the British screwed him over and his sons became the rulers of Jordan and Iraq (created out of the blue with arbitrary borders), while the Saudis took the penisula and holy sites of Mecca and Medina.

So do you really believe, had the British fulfilled that promise of a pan-Arab state, the Palestinians would have a snowball's chance in Riyadh of having an independent state for themselves under Arab rule??

The Arabs have been ruling Jordan for 50 years, despite the fact that it's 70% Palestinian (whatever being a Palestinians actually amounts to)...

Can you tell us what defines a Palestinian, as compared to other Arab cultures?? Do they have their own language? Their own peculiar religion??.. Dances?? Cuisine?? Do they possess strikingly different facial features that identify them as Palestinian?

What is a Palestinian, other than someone who might have been born there (which makes all native born Israelis Palestinians as well).

So, if the Palestinians had won in 1967, do you think they would have occupied Israel?

Do you think that the Palestinians would have treated the newly conquered Israelis as brothers?
