Hey, those were Quebecois! I've met lots of Canadians who would probably want them resumed on a larger scale. :-)

The U.S. will need lots of water in the next decade from foreign sources as more people move to the South West and California. There is not enough local water to sustain agriculture let alone domestic needs. The closest, cleanest and cheapest foreign source is Canada.

There would be less of a problem with water in the US if we didn't subsidize it. We have shortages and restrictions on personal use from time to time in at least some places in the US, while selling vast amounts of water for industry, or agriculture in dry areas at well below a market price. Make these subsidized buyers pay the full price and water will be used a lot more efficiently.
