Wilcousa,
I wanted to point to the alleged dichotomy btw. business spending and consumer spending... Good to hear that the "retail" consumer is an important demand factor for semis as well (not only the beancounters of corporate America <g>)

And APTI's news (cited by RtS) is just another hint alongside the same lines..

now if just corporate America would finally come to its senses and realize it cannot postpone any technology & IT upgrade forever.. To grow tomorrow you have to invest today. Everything else is just the beancounter reengineering mantra akin to the stagnant early 90ies.. (i.e. save a penny there and a nickle here and just stay the same. don't invest in anything new because it'S too risky.. no new markets, no new products. That's a road to failure.)

To me it looks like it will be the consumer who has to EXPRESS HIS DEMAND to corporate America in a forceful way. Otherwise those bean-counters will rule the day. No exciting story and no coming bellwether company was ever created by penny-pinching. Ok, being frugal is ok but shutting down investment is not. Sorry for my ranting.. I just feel that those fellows "haven't got" it yet.. hopefully they will..
