No, if you want to be one of the cool kids, you can't ever question the head cheerleader. Oh, and you can't be nice to the nerds and the band geeks - that'll get you blackballed.

shareholders and employees

If Wally had a bit of backbone he would do what he could ( as a director) to minimize the number of employees to be laid off and see to it that the layoffs were less painful to those affected. But there are no headlines in that sort of work and there is no glory in it.

Directors of the better companies ( INTC) have plenty of dissent at the meetings but once a decision is made they unify behind the company and the decision to give an unambiguous message to the shareholders and the employees.
