The distinction here, as I was following the discussion was between those who believe in some form of divine existence, which is commonly called God but need not necessarily be, and those who believe that any belief in any such existence is wrong.

What the nature of the God or divine existence one believes in wasn't, I think, part of the initial issue, and so primarily muddies the water.

From my perspective, the issue is, when you look at the world as it is, do you believe it could have "jest happened," or do you believe there had to be some sort of intelligence putting the pieces together?
