I suspect the communications sector is moving today because Merrill upgraded the sector before the market opened. Heck, they even upgraded LU and NT!

True there was an upgrade...I believe it was Bank of America.

Still, I would not underestimate the significance of last week's call by Sagawa. He is the most credible analyst in the sector. I know the pain of going against his negative call from fall of 2000.
We probably are going to see a lot more upgrades. Just look at the ratings on stocks like JNPR and there is room for upside revisions in their ratings.

Sagawa's note had some comment on data capacity and I can't seem to find it...but it got me thinking that not only are the equipment stocks good buys. So are the owners of the long distance lines.
I am trying to find names of such companies as long as they are not close to bankruptcy. AT&T and others. Would like a list of such companies if anyone has one.
