John, Arsenic got a bum rap, all right. A lot of it has to do with Cary Grant and his two sweet, murderous aunts. Nobody put the blame for the deaths squarely where it belonged in that play: on the Old Lace. <g>

However, I have never completely bought into the Napoleon story. Ol' Nap had gut problems way before he moved to St. Helena. It was the major physical complaint of his last years as a general and kept him out of the saddle. Nor do I believe that the English poisoned him to keep him from escaping St. Helena. The odds of rescue were nil off the coast of West Africa rather than a rowboat ride from Europe on Elba.
