Dear Ann: Yes, I too was surprised that she turned it down. It was IMHO a great honor he wished to bestow upon her as Pres. Bush feels strongly about education. I guess even though she is the wealthiest entertainer in show business she just has to make a little more. JDN

Oprah, is so important she couldn't take time out her busy day to help improve the world.

I think Bush wanted some touchy-feely publicity and not a solution to a problem. Oprah was correct to decline the invitation.
