the Arab League may even want Israel to be part of the economic prosperity to come, as evidenced by their willingness to recognize Israel’s right to exist if Israel will go back to the 1967 borders. This is a huge step by the Arab League, and I hope Israel doesn’t squander the opportunity, as it appears they are doing now.

It would have been a huge step if it had been offered anytime between 1993 and 2000 (During that time, the Saudi's main contribution was to fund Hamas). Now, with a war on the ground, they were quite safe in having it not be taken up, but they added the 'right of return' (for unknown millions of Palestinians) just to make sure it was a non-starter.
