It would be ferocious for about a week, probably involving an Arab oil boycott for about a month

Hmmmm. The sand will turn to glass but the oil will still flow? That would be a cute trick.

And then there's Mr. Market...

However, it's a quiet day, so....

Not that quiet.

After all, we're still the world's only super power -- what can the world do> And that will be a lot less time than we'll be dealing with this mess if we let it go on.

Wow.

think of all the money we send to Israel and how much that could support Social Security.

Wow and UGH

If this were real, nuclear blasts for 70 miles, the oil fields would be shutdown for critical health reasons for a long time and many workers would not return for health and political reasons (assuming a normal easterly air flow).

The real question is whether this would precipitate a domestic dispute in the U.S. that would prove far more disruptive than the inital foreign blow.

There's a severe logical flaw in that post. If the entire Middle East was nuked, there'd be no Arabs left to impose an oil boycott, or Arab oil being produced.

"not by me. However, it's a quiet day, so...."

When some one makes a statement about what they think the US should do, I substitute the word "I" for "US". It gives me a perspective on where the person is coming from.

Should the US just pave the rest of the world and use it for a parkin' lot. (apologies to Joni Mitchel or whoever)
