here, using the VIX Bollinger Bands you can see if you look carefully how when it is at top of it's BB and the bottom of it's BB , the SPX and NASDAQ have been moving in the opposite directions. because NASD is more volatile it can be seen more easily by comparing to NASD.Also note that when VIX is at top of BB, that would be a buy signal,as the VIX is topping out.
