She reminds me of company we had last week. Two liberal professors from a college in Oregon. We asked them the same question: Is killing wrong?

It took all night and several reiterations, but the husband finally admitted that killing is wrong. The wife never would. Her explanation is that there is a place called "The gray area", and that it carries more weight than a world of black and white. She asked me, what if someone were trying to kill me, would I kill them? (My answer was that of course I would)

My point is this. If there are is no moral grounding ie. killing is wrong, stealing is wrong, then how can we have a civilized society? This is a very simple concept, and I can only conclude that without moral grounding everything is up for interpretation (the gray area), and humans are doomed.
