Pet peeve of mine also, and its not just the O&G Jrs that do it, I find more often than not that companies are trying to minimize the look of something, however maybe their press releases are charged by the word and they are trying to save money :).

A trend I like (even with the jrs) is hosting conf calls, and sometimes much more detailed releases are available on their web sites,

Yuppers - tis the nature of the beast in reporting. However, once a Junior starts reporting the last quarter, the procedure should be carried forward in the coming years. I always check to see if they had reported the quarter the prior year. That tells me a little about accountability.

I believe the most major contributing factor that fourth quarters are not reported is because they start off as such a small company and carry forward the routine until they get to a size where the fourth quarter should be segregated.
