Like I said, false economics.

If oil is profitable to drill... it will be drilled.

No need at all for subsidies from the taxpayers. Just as there is no rational economic need to subsidize sugar growers... or mohair wool producers... or tobacco growers... or uranium miners.

Are we giving a few tens of billions of dollars to the wind power / solar power crowd? No? Then why shovel the money to some of the richest companies in the World. In a free market the price of oil would rise with demand and falling supply... and stimulate it's own exploration and drilling.

It's all Corporate Welfare, all a raid on the taxpayer's wallet by the rich and richer, all Crony Capitalism... not Free Markets.
