Intel giving up on Dell?

Not entirely, of course, but since the Dell model appears to be stalling - actually losing market share to the white box makers - Intel is shifting support to the whitebox makers that are stealing share from Dell:

Intel Program Aids White-Box Builders
Rolling out 60-day pilot to reduce inventory levels

Intel is moving to shore up its logistics to smaller distributors as part of a plan to assist a growing number of white-box builders that require same-day delivery on components....

The number of solution providers citing white-box PCs as their best-selling desktops jumped to its highest level ever of 55 percent in February, up from 40 percent in December, according to the CRN Monthly Solution Provider Survey.

Dan, Re: "Evidently AMD's been shipping Athlon 2.2GHZ parts to OEMs for a little while"

I figured that you of all people would know the difference between QuantiSpeed and clock frequency (given that you advocate it all the time), but perhaps I am wrong. The link you offered referred to an (as in "one", "uno", "un", or "singular") advertisement of a 2200+ Athlon - *not* a 2.2GHz Athlon. There is no indication that the vendor even has these parts to ship - only that they have begun advertising. FWIW, there was also a 2.4GHz system in the advertisement, and that hasn't been released, either. Sounds like this is just a case of an eager VAR jumping the gun a little.

Sorry if you were hoping that the .13u Athlons were shipping on time. I know that I'd like to see them shipping, too, but this doesn't seem to indicate that in the least.

Dan3 - Re:"Evidently AMD's been shipping Athlon 2.2GHZ parts to OEMs for a little while, at least, and no one knew..."

Even an avid Droid is confused with ModelHurtz. The rumor is for a Model 2200+ which actually runs at what 1.72 GHz.

You are a perfect example of AMD deception at work. But the deception only works for AMDroids and others easily deceived.

Dan, about your "Evidently AMD's been shipping Athlon 2.2GHZ parts to OEMs for a little while"

That's a 2.2+ which is imaginary something not GHz. In your case Dan the + means take more of your meds so your delusions go away. Athon2.2gig in your mind!
