Regards Frank P.CAE sells its 22nd Full Flight Simulator for fiscal year 2002 TORONTO, April 2 /CNW/ - (TSE: CAE - news) CAE today announced it has sold its 22nd Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for fiscal year 2002: an Airbus A330, equipped with CAE's new image generator CAE Tropos, to a new customer, Taiwan- based EVA Airways Corp. The total value of the contract is approximately C$19 million (list price). CAE also announced last week C$50 million of new simulator contracts, bringing the total of competed full flight simulator contracts won by CAE in fiscal year 2002, to 22 out of 26, or 85 per cent of the competed market. CAE has won 16 of the 27 competed visual systems, for a market share of 59 per cent. The A330 simulator will be installed in September 2003 at the EVA Air Training Centre in Taiwan. It will meet the highest standard in full flight simulator equipment. CAE Tropos(TM) is the only image generator based on commercially available graphic processors, offering the calligraphic capability required to generate realistic runway lighting. This is a critical milestone because calligraphic light points are required for Level D certification, the highest level of FAA certification. Tropos is the first image generator in CAE's new Atmos family of visual products. In addition to offering lower life cycle costs, Tropos exceeds every performance standard currently attained by CAE Maxvue. Tropos offers 60 per cent more polygons per channel, 20 per cent more pixels per channel and double the texture memory. The result is sharper images with more realistic textures and advanced weather effects. Founded in 1989 as Taiwan's first private international airline, EVA Airways, operates flights to 40 international destinations in Asia, India, the Persian Gulf, Europe and the U.S. The airline is a subsidiary of the Taiwan Evergreen Group, which owns and operates one of the word's largest container shipping lines. It is a member of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) regional trade group.
