8:50AM: Not much enthusiasm in the futures market as broad-based weakness in foreign indices, a surprisingly large jump in initial claims for the week of March 30 (see 08:40 comment), and earnings warnings from Bristol-Myers (BMY 30.60 -7.10), Compuware (CPWR 7.66 -3.44), and Checkpoint Software (CHKP 21.09 -6.37) have contributed to this week's misgivings about the pace, and strength, of the nascent economic recovery... Presently, the cash market is expected to start the session on a mixed to modestly lower note as the S&P futures, -4.50, are 0.50 points below fair value while the Nasdaq 100 Pre-Market Indicator is down 8.88 points.
