The world's population has doubled in the last 20 years, mainly in the Third World where environmental resources are most heavily depleted. Drought, starvation, wars bred out of hopelessness, tribal-religious clashes, pollution, desperation and neo-barbarism, we're already seeing overpopulation's effects. Also the alarming over-fishing of the oceans which threatens future generations ability to feed themselves.
