globalization forces other countries to become dependant on the united states, not allowing them to become self-sufficient. there are numerous examples, but let's take one close to home. nafta is an example of globalization, reducing barriers to trade between the US and mexico. now mexicans are dependant on americans to provide them jobs. as of a few years ago general motors was the largest private employer in mexico. i think volkswagen may have overtaken them now. even with all the production leaving places like the united states and headed for mexico, mexicans are still pouring across the border by the millions, many coming here looking for work.

i don't see how globalization efforts such as nafta have done anything to make a country like mexico more self-sufficient. i think they have become more dependant.
