Tuck,
thx fo the post..

Since I'm based in Austria (Europe) my broker doesn't make a difference whether I buy in Frankfurt, New York, Tokyo or Toronto..

In the US any "foreign trading desk" should enable you to buy stocks internationally. I firmly believe the thesis that in globalized industries (unlike services for example) like electronics, lab instrumentation etc.. you actually don't invest in "COUNTRIES" but in industries. Due to this, valuation criteriae (derived under similar circumstances) should converge.. When I see a huge disparity then I buy.. I had quite a discussion, a real argument exchange on this with some bearish folks on the Japan/Nikkei thread. They couldn't see why anyone should be bullish on "Tokyo stocks". For me it doesn't matter. Global corporations have no real home. Disparities create bargains..

Right now Shimadzu is a Price/Sales of 0.40 trading at around 325 Yen in Tokyo (Ticker is 7701 - quote.yahoo.co.jp). Sartorius is trading at PSR of 0.30-0.37 (for common or preferred). Thx for mentioning Tecan to me (quote.yahoo.de). Will look into this also..

Nigel once submitted Oxford Instruments (OXIG.L). That one trades at PSR of 0.38 in London.

I have all of them. I sit and wait and relax... Thx for your "general education" blips also. Learning a lot..
