Why didn't Bush speak out vs. terrorism his first 9 months in office? He went to Europe and told them he wanted Star Wars. His only issue. Tried to ram it down their throats, remember? Never once mentioned our need for more humint or any crackdown against terrorism even as the bastards were grouping to strike. They were even planning to bomb him in Genoa and he said nothing. And what good is Star Wars against terrorists? Just a big waste of money we now need for other things. Some bully pulpit there. Also Cheney the defence expert spent his first nine months telling us we needed 1700 new power plants (benefiting his old company , Enron and other cronies) and to open up all our wildnerness lands for his drilling buddies. Why? Because of that terrible energy crisis we had. What energy crisis? As soon as Jeffords switched parties it mirculously disappeared. Find me one speech Bush made prior to 9/11 warning about terrorists. No, he only warned us about "rogue nations" like North Korea whom we supposed have to fear even if they don't even have ICBM's. Clinton sucked on terrorism issues but hindsight is always 20-20. Everyone else sucked on it too including Bush. I think Clinton's plan was to make peace in the Middle East and erase many of the reasons behind terrorism. I blame the terrorists themselves for ruining that peace accord. They were so close. I remember clearly. And them, the suicide bombers started up again. Ruined everything. Then Clinton had to leave office with nothing to show after working so hard. Give the guy some credit. He really tried to make peace but those bastard tangos don't want peace. Now we know that. We didn't know it then.
