Poitier was very classy and called out the people that were at least partially responsible for his success (he is the most responsible for it imo). Brave individuals who went against the grain at the time to give an outstanding actor the opportunities he deserved. I dont know if the acadamy is actually prejudiced against blacks as Berry's speech implied, but outstanding actors such as Morgan Freeman, Danny Glover, Eddie Murphy, Whoopi Goldberg, etc., etc., etc. have been landing good parts and bringing in crowds for a long time. Her (and you) insinuating that people won't go to the movies because blacks are in them is absurd. The reason I brought up the sports analogy was to head that silly argument off before it got brought up. My effort obviously failed. I think the whole thing is hilarious in the sense that the Bill Clinton type democrats LOVE the liberal Hollywood support and yet this very bastion of liberlness and openness is blatantly prejudiced against blacks according to Halle (the phony) Barry. Maybe Halle won the award for her acting and was cast for her acting ability and color had nothing to do with it. That probably seems far fetched to you, but seems pretty plausable and probable to me. "Some things are impossible to fake" hahaha. She had just won an award at being the very best on the planet at doing just that. Faking emotions. Liberals are fairly easy to fool it seems.
