The energy issue is a HUGE one which I could write chapters on to you vis a vis Bush-Cheney, the Texas energy cartel and the deliberate corrupt means by which they engineered their massive "energy crisis" coup in June 2000 - June 2001. It not only cost consumers 50 billion, but almost bankrupted California, gave Bush-Cheney a phony scare issue they could use against Gore (remember "Clinton has no energy policy"?) and put the same industry cronies who engineered the "energy crisis" gougathon in charge of national energy policy for the first in history.

Just ask yourself this. Was it a coincidence that the week Jeffords switched parties the so-called energy crisis suddenly ended and was no more? Why is Jeffords so crucial? Because suddenly the Dems controlled the Senate and could start investgations. That is when the cover-up began.

Bush-Cheney-Enron and their energy strategy might shape up to be one of the biggest scandals in our nation's history. And it would have been far worse if it hadn't been for Jeffords making a stand. The S+L debacle cost us 200 billion over 5 years (actually more since we're still paying for it). The energy crisis cost us 50 billion or more in less than a year. Plus a lot more overseas. If jeffords hadn't switched parties my guess is it would have been a trillion dollar ripoff scheme. And would have cost us more pollution and environmental degradation.

If it hadn't been for 9/11 this would be one of the biggest issues in the media now. Instead, it may wait until election year. Meanwhile, Bush-Cheney still refuse to hand over their papers making the GOP total hypocrites when they demanded the same of Clinton.
