"He assumes that Teddy's account is true. I see no way of trusting it."

Teddy has been lying about everything to everybody all along. When he gives an account to Leonard of what has happened he is not trying to manipulate anything. He expresses his confidence that it wont matter since Leonard will forget it right away. He doesn't anticipate Leonard's action of righting on the picture. That is why Leonard believes him and why I think the author wanted it to be the one true explanation of what had happened.

<Whether people consider how it will film is another matter....... >

It filmed fine, imo. It filmed better than it should have, given what I now believe was an annoying degree of incoherence. I believe this because I no longer believe it was clear except to stupid me. I think you're right; what virtues there were to be had, I've had, and if there is some logical explication to be found on deep examination, the producers and backers probably didn't bother with it and it's not going to be rewarding enough to make the examination worth the time for me to do it.
