The issue with "lifting off of the water" would be drag, not lift. Once the drag of the water is gone, the excess power should translate into speed. Of course the pontoons no doubt add some drag. (Just theorizing here - I'm not a seaplane pilot.)

Whole key is very light. The plane is a tubular frame with doped canvas as the fusilage.

Every thing hinges around minimalism.You'd be surprised how long a pair of jockey shorts can last.

Pilot,survival gear,normal gear and a cople of hundred pounds payload.
