Yes. You're partially right. Urban America has been heavily Democratic for at least half a century. But you are wrong in saying there is a slow move toward the Republican Party. (Evidence please.) The results from recent elections indicate the opposite is happening. The evidence says that urban America, already heavily Democratic, is becoming even more Democratic, especially among minorities. (Only Goldwater did worse than GWB among African-American voters percentagewise than any other presidential candidate of the 20th century.)

And I'm not talking about what's going on in heavily African-American cities such as Detroit or St. Louis. Same is also occurring in Seattle.

School choice ain't a big issue among urban voters. Improving existing public schools is. And that's where the Democratic Party is far ahead of the Republican Party ... especially among Hispanic voters.
