Gap downs.. depends on sentiment.. these days gap downs are sold, pronto. PSFT caught all involved by suprise. However gap downs almost always happen after a stock's price action has already shown warning signs, in other words, the pros smell it and you shouldn't have been long considering the price action leading to the gap down..

Regardless, always try to wait 15 to 30 mins to see if new lows are made before panicking out..
