I agree about the often low signal-to-noise and have largely dealt with it by putting folks on ignore. It's not that their posts are all offensive - it's that they don't say anything. I sometimes think that for some folks posting is the psychological equivalent of tapping on the table.

But it could be helped a lot if people would just show some restraint and not respond to the attacks as well as the "random noise".
