Good point....i think the big boys squeezed the nervous shorts....and loaded up on newbie/speculative longs on the last ramp up from Feb-Mar.....the fact we got a pretty pathetic window dressing markup at the end of march was a precusor of things to come in the next few months....its gonna be bumpy both ways i think.

equity purchases the first 3-month of this year are the lowest since early 1999.
It's counterintuitive, I know, but my charting of Stock Fund flows vs stock index performance shows conclusively that they are a contrarian indicator. There used to be a lead of about a month, but that's been shortened to an average of about a week now. Since the data is published Thurs night for the period ending Wed and centered on Mon, that just about uses up the short lead. Strange as it seems, low cash flows are a good sign. For example: about $53.5 billion flowed into stock funds in Feb 2000. Approximately $29 billion flowed out of stock funds in Sept 2001.
