Amen, on that one, it is a very difficult subject and anyone who tries to make it black and white, needs a little help on being objective.

"and I appreciate very much the sincerity of those who oppose it entirely"

I am nearly in the same position as you on this willcousa. I wish it was not such a strong part of the republican platform because I think it hurts the repubs politically. What peeves me, and why I do jump into the fray is that most supporters it seems (Ann included) do not appreciate the sincerity of those who oppose it. If it was talked about accurately then maybe the country could come to a consensus on it. The supporters however choose to muddle and belittle the significance by insulting the pro-life people and to call the taking of the unborn life nothing more than a choice. Ann is funny in my view in that she is appalled by the killing of an innocent bird, but has no such reservations about an innocent unborn child. Very typical of many supporters, and hard for me to figure out..

I'm done now.

willcousa,

Thanks for the post. It was so refreshing to read a post from someone who does not insist on simple answers to the abortion issue. You say you appreciate the sincerity of those who oppose it entirely. In fact, they are not the only ones who have sincere moral convictions on the subject--no matter how holier-than-thou their posturing might be. Unfortunately, their concern never extends to the woman. To them, she's just a human container and must be controlled.
