Our Constitution makes a special distinction about religious ideas, which I think is warranted.

All it says about religion is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" It doesn't really say anything much about religious ideas. There should be no official religion or religious tax, or theocratic structure to our government but religious ideas are not otherwise discriminated against by our constitution.
