Hi carranza2; Re Schorr smelling the cordite and hope for the French.

That the Palestinians are determined to continue to use terrorism (or whatever else is available) until complete victory has been obvious for years. Of course the French understand this. They had the benefit of painful lessons taught to them in Algeria.

The French have already tried all the stuff that Israel is trying and it didn't work for them. They, like I, probably don't think that Israel can survive, and that therefore plans have to be made for an eventual Palestinian victory. Until then, supporting the Israelis just kills more people, on both sides.

Until both sides agree on who is the master and who is the slave the fighting will continue. They cannot be equals because they are sitting on the same land, and that land can only be ruled by one of the two groups. Since the Arabs have a huge advantage in numbers and population growth, they are certain that they will win in the end. This is true whether the outcome is determined by the bullet or by the ballot, providing that the government that rules Palestine does so with a blind eye to religion.

If Israel wants to survive, she has to ethnically cleanse (i.e. force enemy civilians to move away) a region big enough to give them militarily defensible borders. Without that, she's fighting a hopeless war. The alternatives to forced migration is death camps, and Israel just isn't going to do that, though they don't seem to have any compunction against creating Palestinian ghettoes.
