That explains why there are so much anti-American, anti-Israel feelings in France.

Only in part - this is my opinion having lived there for several years. French dislike of Israel and the US has more to do with the French love affair with communism. Until recent years, le Parti Communist could get some 25 % of the popular vote during the first turn in their presidential elections. During the second, tie breaking vote they (and other minority political parties, both left and right wing - they don't have an "electoral college" there), they would weigh very heavily on the outcome in terms of deal making in the background.

There are still people left in France who are "Stalinian". During the cold war the French intelligentsia did everything they could to smear and discredit anyone who'd escaped from the Soviet gulags, the intellectual dishonesty and bad faith of which I find simply nauseating. That despicable little shit Jean-Paul Sarte was one of the ring leaders.

One of my college friends told me how his grandfather got out of Russia with the falsified passport off a dead man, and this was by no means an unusual story from Jews in NYC as we well know. Denying what went down at the hands of communist regimes during the 20'th century is nearly as bad as denying the holocaust.

Israel and the US are successful capitalist societies and this really sticks in the craw of all these French communists.

Percentage wise, there is a much larger muslim/Arab population in France than in the US. And France has a serious problem with Algeria, which was their Viet Nam. Worse, it's just across the Mediterranean.
