Yesterday a friend heard his door being kicked in. He went for his phone and got shot. He would have been better off grabbing a gun.

BLOOMINGTON -- A 55-year-old Bloomington man was shot at his home Tuesday afternoon, but police said the wound was not life-threatening.

Charles Gizzarelli, 55, of 814 W. Front St., was found lying on the floor at his residence, and told emergency workers he had been shot and robbed. The shooting was about 4:15 p.m.

Gizzarelli was taken to BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, where the nursing supervisor said she had no information on the patient Tuesday evening.

There was an small gunshot wound to his posterior right thigh, a Bloomington rescue report said.

The victim was lying at the back entry to his home, said Sgt. Randy Wilson. Wilson said the shooting was not random, and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
