Prolife, how do you know the Roman occupiers didn't invent Jesus to keep the rebellious Jewish people, who were expecting a messiah to lead them in a revolt to freedom from the Romans, pacified? You know how rumors spread. Wonderful sounding tales of great miracles by a man of God were probably well received by a people who were anxious for their long awaited messiah. Jesus, however, told them to turn the other cheek and not to resist their Roman occupiers. What a wonderful ploy to prevent a rebellion.

Funny how many good Christians have fought and killed and died in so many holy wars. I am not picking on only Christians. Actually, I think Christ's teachings are great ideals. I only wish that throughout history all Christians were true practitioners of their own faith. But then being baptized and asking for forgiveness and receiving absolution washes away all transgressions doesn't it? That sure beats good old Jewish guilt doesn't it? How come the Jews with no formal indoctrination of being unconditionally forgiven for their sins and a belief in the need to atone by actively making restitution to those that they wronged have never been the aggressors in holy wars to spread their religious beliefs throughout history? Can the Christians say the same?

All religions are based on dogma that has someones' ulterior motives at its roots. At its best it creates a social conscience in most indoctrinees. At its worst it divides us from one another in the most horrible of ways all too often. I say let's all get along because it makes good sense and because it is inherently right. We shouldn't need a "simon says" to do the right thing. That sort of blind-faith-following leads to "simon says" it is okay to go kill and then the followers happily go kill others, and, others not indoctrinated in that religion wonder why. I don't wonder. It is all too often caused by ignorance and magical thinking that has its roots in dogmatic mindless religious brainwashing. JMHO!
