I have never respected France since Charles DeGaulle visiting Montreal City Hall in 1967 (Canadas centennial year) declared from the balcony "Vive Le Quebec Libre".

It was accepted in France and we have lived with the repercussions of those sown seeds ever since. We survived the anarchy of the FLQ that eventually resulted but to this day suffer the divisions it has caused in our society. It was unforgivable of him and unforgivable that France allowed it.

I would have to agree substantially with your reference to Frances love affair with communism and what I see over the years as their extreme socialism. It grates in my craw when I hear comments on this thread that group countries like France and Canada in the same breath.

There is "universality in community well being" and there is "aggressive socialism". IMO they are vastly different and not to recognize that is to do a terrible disservice to ones credibility.

There is a huge difference between racial equality rights and the KKK.
