Reasons for Optimism:
My decision to increase stock exposure is not based solely on seasonality. Unlike your technical indicators that seem to be giving negative readings, my own sentiment indicators are neutral or positive generally (that is, they're showing average or higher bearishness). Fairly high pessimism in Jake Bernstein's Daily Sentiment Indices and recent weakness in Stock Fund flows are two indicators saying we're oversold. Near term Nasdaq Business Sentiment has also dipped markedly, and is out of step with a developing economic and business expansion. These indicators don't offer much timing precision, and that's where I hope the seasonality will get me in close to the bottom.
