Well, John, you don't really expect any group of pundits to label themselves as a "right-wing lobby", do you?

Well, it would certainly be a great deal more honest to do so.

But, no, I would not expect that. I'm just doing a small bit of "truth in advertising." It's important for anyone who reads the letter and to know the ideological positions of the signers

John

That's the interesting thing about wars - how they morph far beyond what the instigators had in mind. It may well be that people who begin wars only do so because they lack sufficient imagination to foresee the end.

Japan failed to see how massive and rich in resources the United States was, compared to the tiny island of Japan.

HItler failed to appreciate how massive and rich in resources the Soviet Union was, compared to Germany - - more men, better access to oil, and that nasty Russian winter!

Israel, I fear, fails to appreciate how massive and rich in resources the Arab world is. Israel may have the best trained military in the world, but it's a tiny one compared to one billion Muslims. Don't take them all on at once.

Wolfowitz-Perle-Woolsey aren't stupid - - that's why they are trying to drag the US into it. Don't count on that. We do support Israel, but I really don't think we'll send in troops to protect Israel. JMO.

Hi Nadine Carroll; The most important paragraph from that article is this one:

"To be effective, that blow must target civilians. That is what the Jewish state was not expected to do, and that is what will make the enemy understand it means business."

This is the beginning of the end for US support for Israel. The whole objective of the Palestinians was to create a situation of moral equivalency between themselves and the Israelis.

Why don't you look through all the .mil sites and find me a single current US military document (i.e. a Field Manual or whatever) advocating the targeting of civilians as a reprisal in warfare. Just one current document that supports this.

Israel has the advantage of a lot of high powered US weapons. But if Israel uses them to target civilians you can say goodbye to US military support.

All the Arab countries need is for the US to be neutral in Israel.

-- Carl

P.S. My belief is that the objective of the Palestinians is to eventually destroy the Israeli state. I wonder how anyone could think otherwise.
