New to the board. Palm user. Advertising guy. I got this article emailed to me from Adweek, thought you might be interested ...

PALM IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE PUSH

NEW YORK - At $3 and change, Palm's stock price may not be setting the world on fire, but the company is claiming a bit of a comeback and is boosting its ad spend. A $10 million holiday campaign got Palms moving off shelves, so the company is trying to keep momentum going with a new TV campaign and a rewards program for "Palmies" who get their friends to buy one.

New TV, which broke on cable last week, plays on the theme, "Whatever you do, there's a Palm to help you do it better." AKQA, San Francisco, handles. "The big push right now is to try to increase [Palm's] relevance in people's everyday lives," said Page Murray, sr. director-consumer marketing.

The reward program, dubbed the Palm Pays Back program offers 10% back in "Palm Bucks" to those who get a friend to buy a Palm. Those bucks are good toward Palm products.

Murray declined to give a spend on the latest campaign, but said it would be a 25% jump over the first quarter. He added that Palm plans to break a campaign every quarter. The next is due around graduation time. The one after that, for back-to-school, is just about finished, he said. Palm's placement strategy also relies 100% on TV and online, with no print. Microsoft, Palm's chief rival, has yet to do TV for its Pocket PC handheld OS.

Well $3.00 held when everyone thought they'd post at least a 7 cent loss and shorts were all over it

I don't think you're going to find shorts "all over" this $3 - or many other sub-$5 - stocks.
