The settlements are no excuse for the homicidal bombings.

I don't disagree with that. I'm simply saying that you need to see that the terrain is very complicated and try to see it from the various Palestinian perspectives as well as from the various Israeli ones.

I know it gets much harder to do that when conflict ratchets up.

They are also no excuse for the abject failure to negotiate in good faith at Camp David II. The Palestinians were close to getting what they wanted, yet they turned their backs on a peaceful political process. What we see now is the direct result of their leadership's intransigence.

I'm with slacker on this one, at least for the moment. I've read several accounts of what took place at Camp David but none that seemed authoritative. Would love to find one.
