Are you implying that Middle Easterners aren't genetically capable of democracy? That is truly what your post implies to me.

I do know there was a democratically elected government in Iran, and the U.S. overthrew it in favor of a dictatorship that would be more compliant with American economic interests. This pattern has played out countless times throughout the world, most notably in our own back yard - Latin America.

Oh, c'mon... what's the good of having "free and rigged" elections if a shadowy clique of retired generals can snuff out your top elected official (PM Yitzak Rabin) as soon as he departs from their UNDEMOCRATIC agenda?? To hold an election circus every few years is no guarantee of a genuine democracy --just ask your fellow Democrats who are still crying foul about the "stolen 2000 election" by GW Bush...
