Scared shorts are of little enduring benefit to the bulls at this point. Bulls need overly confident shorts that are shorting the declines in an aggressive fashion for any kind of sustainable rally to develop. You want the shorts scared after the rally starts and not before. You need them caught off gaurd. Bulls should be concerned if the shorts are covering AND are going long AND the market does jack to the upside. Otherwise, you get a spring rally debacle with lots of overhead supply. Shorts will not get the longs to the promised land covering here. The act of begging shorts to cover to help the longs make money on their positions is not a promising development for the longs here. If the buying power is limited to covering shorts, support here will not last.
