It's a brutal fact of history that often the agressing nation will not surrender or seek a cease fire until they have suffered tremendous casualties...

Perhaps so, Hawk, that's not worth arguing about. We could go back through a great many instances particularly wandering through the way war has changed over the centuries as a result of technological changes and also changes in strategic thinking.

However, if you focus just on this conflict right now, that strategy is not only grossly immoral but the new factor is, as I just posted to Carl, global television and the connected factor of the global economy. It would be impractical, in the extreme, as a course of action.
