A senior Israeli security source, asking to remain anonymous, told the Washington Post that Israel’s biggest mistake in the past 18 months of the Intifada was to show too much respect for the Palestinian Authority’s top executives.

Typical Israeli propaganda. Here is a dose of reality:

electronicintifada.net

After a month of no Israeli civilian deaths, it was becoming apparent the Intifada (the first shots of which were fired by Ariel Sharon's troops) was finally dying down. Sharon, in a state of panic that his pet war was dying, had the IDF assassinate the leader of the Al-Aqsa Brigade. The Al-Aqsa Brigade then proceeded to launch the war of suicide bombers that they are now famous for. As always, Israel initiates the cycle of violence.
