No the Nazi regalia has found it place in the most unlikely place of all - at least in spirit, in Israel, and this is the greatest irony of all in this present bloody mess. At least the British press is free - so you can get every point of view -not many behind Bush/Blair mind you, but in the US only now are we beginning to see smatterings of adverse comment about Bush's having dropped the ball in the Middle East. 'You're either for us or against us', hardly cuts in it a world where there are (always) shades of gray.

The support for Israel runs deep in the States just now - in the Congress too. And Arafat has a 2% approval rating!! Mind you with the US media so hugely behind Israel it's little wonder. And the people are still so traumatised by 9/11 that they cannot separate what's happening there with what happened here. All those little flags in stores and automobiles are wonderful to see (but who ever thought that blind patriotism is wonderful?) but the sub text I fear is 'America above all' which has a disquieting ring about it 'Deutchland Uber Alles'? A God Awful bloody mess and getting worse.
