09:48 ET Market pushes Fed tightening to June : The fed funds futures contracts now point to a 23% probability of a 25 bp Fed tightening in May, down from 39% yesterday and a near certainty a month ago. A 25 bp June tightening is still seen as a sure bet. Today's lukewarm employment data and recent friendly comments from Fed officials have led to this shift. These shifts are rational, but we would caution against excessive optimism regarding Fed policy - Dallas Fed Pres McTeer said last night that he saw no reason for rate hikes until the unemployment rate drops below 5%; it is highly unlikely that this view is shared by Greenspan and others at the Fed - McTeer has been consistently more dovish than the rest of the Fed in recent years.
