Mass transit subsidies in Northern California run about the same.
BART, the subway, gets about 45% of revenues from fares. Its 2000 and 2001 P&L are in here:

Transit revenues are suffering because fewer dotcommers are travelling to work. Revenues are also suffereing because sales taxes are down, as much as 25% YOY in some counties.
