Specifics, Neo ... how does all this apply to the issues of the day Yeah, good question. I'd like to know how Neo thinks it applies to that great Western Tradition, the public school. Or marrying one's cousin...

I promised marcos that I would come back to his post, so here goes... Issues more or less directly derived from what I said would include a renewed federalism (greater tendency to leave things to the states); less of a tendency to buffer immigrants against pressures to assimilate; a renewed commitment to defense; an emphasis on values- based programs for those needing special help, like addicts; a less aggressive stance towards public displays of traditional observances; a phasing out of certain affirmative action practices, like goals and timetables, which implicitly become quotas, and "race norming", which lowers standards for minorities; a favorable attitude towards school vouchers, to allow parents more choice in their children's education; a tightening of divorce laws, at least when there are children involved; and other such things.......
