The Spanish Inquisition was put in place by the secular Spanish authorities. Also it was a long time ago.


While an inquisition can be run by secular authorities exclusively, in the case of the Spanish Inquisition it was run by both secular and religious [catholic] authorities......see link below. And 500 years is not that long of time.......references are made to the Koran and I think that was written thousands of years ago.
